2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsps. ground ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. softened butter
1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. water
1/4 c. molasses
2 tbsps. sugar
Stir together first 6 ingredients. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in egg, water, and molasses. Gradually add to dry ingredients. Shape dough into walnut sized balls, roll each in sugar, and place on an ungreased cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly. Bake 8-10 minutes at 350. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Cool completely, then store in an airtight container if you have any left!![]()
