what does it mean to scant sugar?

Is the recipe on here, or is it one you have at home? I don't know what it means to scant the sugar, but I can remember my grandmother and other older people saying a recipe had a scant cup of sugar which just means, that the cup of sugar wasn't quite full. It was a little less, but just how much less I can't tell you. I would guess between three quarters of a cup and a cup.

    Hope this helps you!
