When I was a child, there was a Winn-Dixie close to our home. The bakery sold freshly-baked buttermilk pies of which I often dream, though I fear my memory has all but forgotten what it really tasted like. I've searched the internet and tried several buttermilk pie recipes, but none come close to the seductive flavor and texture I recall.
Is there any chance that anyone out there knows the pie of which I speak? And if so, might any of you know of a recipe that comes close?
