How can I thicken BBQ sauce?

I am making a homemade BBQ sauce, it is WAY too thin and watery. What could I use to thicken it that won't hurt the flavor?

How can I thicken BBQ sauce?

The best way to thicken BBQ sauce is by letting it simmer with the lid off. The liquid will evaporate making for a thicker sauce. When I make my sauces, I'll drain water out of tomatoes, if I'm using chopped ones. Or I might use tomato puree instead of tomato sauce. Other than that I can't think of anything that you could add that wouldn't make it too thick once it gets cold, using cornstarch, flour, etc. will just make a gooey mess once it's cooled.
