    Basil Baked Ham

I grow a lot of basil in my backyard garden. I am always looking for creative uses for this bounty. My wife was baking a ham tonight, I created a glaze that was very tasty.

    In a blender mix:

    1/2 cup HOT Salsa
    1/2 cup of dried Basil
    2 Tbl Dijon Mustard
    1 Tbl of Maple Syrup
    6 oz. of Ginger Ale

Blend till a nice paste results. Brush on ham twice. Once 20 minutes before serving. And again, 5 minutes before serving.

This goes well with other traditional side dishes to baked ham; baked beans, macaroni and cheese, etc.

yep sure did goldie,it gave it that certain jenusse qua?the maple syrup gave it the flavor while the honey gave it a more sticky, gooey, stick to your fingers, lip smacking goodness, especially for the loin chops i did.I love to take recipes and spring ahed with them, not that thier boring or anything but experiment with them.i add flavors that i like , that i think will work with a recipe, that'show new ones are invented,(recipes that is).glad to see that reno didn't do you in and your fins are stillin one piece.

If you end up with too much basil, just before the frost, try making Fresh Basil Conserve to save it in the fridge. My grandparents brought this one with them from Italy.
