    Looking for specific Pizza Bread recipe?????

    The Pizza Bread is used for the popular Italian Hot Dogs or like a pita to make sandwiches. You can be creative and cut the bread in half, toast it and serve with antipasto. Its very popular in the Northern New Jersey area place like DiPaolo Bros. bakery and Calandra's Bakery make this bread.....I live to far and want to make my own.....What in a pizza bread and how is it made?

    I'm always interested in your recipe expertise. Could you send me that info, too that you sent to JerzSureEatery? I've never had Pizza Bread or Italian Hot Dogs, but I'd like to try that bread, for sure.

    I was reading a forum post about the Italian hot dog pizza bread and someone said that if you let focaccia bread proof, that is what makes pizza bread. So, if when you're making bread and you proof the bread for an hour, I wonder, how long I'd proof focaccia bread. I'm assuming 30 minutes.

    PIZZA, RICETTA FONDAMENTALE (Basic Pizza Dough)

    Recipe By :Christiana Lindsay and Alfred Lepore
    Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00

    Pizza

    Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    2 tbsps. cooking oil
    1 package dry (granular)yeast or
    1 yeast cake -- crumbled
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    4 cups flour
    1 cup lukewarm water

    Test the water on the inside of your wrist to judge the temperature. It should be just warm enough to feel.

    Pour water into a warm bowl, add yeast, and stir to dissolve.

    Add salt, sugar, and oil. Mix in flour gradually.

    When dough becomes stiff, flour your hands and knead it with your fingers. It should be pliable but not sticky. Add a bit
    more flour if necessary. Knead dough for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

    Place in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and set in a warm place for about 1-1/2 hours, or until double in bulk.

    Knock down and knead lightly.

    Divide dough into two parts.

    Grease two large baking tins, I1 by 15 inches, or 12-inch pie pans.

    Pat and stretch the dough gently to fit the pans and pinch a rim around the edge.

    Let the dough rise for 15 minutes while you preheat the oven to 400F. and prepare the topping.

    Dent the surface in several places to give it texture, and fill.

    Bake in a preheated 400F. oven for about 30 minutes, or until golden.

    Lift the pie with a spatula to make sure that the bottom crust is done.

    Cut into wedges and serve at once.

    Update on the pizza bread idea: I made focaccia bread yesterday and instead of having it rise for only 30 min. I let it rise for 60 min. so it was puffier than regular focaccia. Then I cut it into eighths and made a pocket within each piece (for the recipe I was making, I needed pockets instead of buns). It turned out really well, so I'd assume it was like the pizza bread the original poster was looking for. And, if not, it still was good and I'll definitely be making it again.

    did you try the italian bread box recipe for your pocket bread. mine came out good!
