    pepper

I've made something that's a little hotter than I intended.
Any suggestions for cutting the heat? I'm considering add
ing some sweetness in the form of caramelized onions or
    citrus juice. Thanks.

What is it you made? If you are talking about black pepper, it's a bit hard to tone it down, you could increase the amount of other ingredients. If it is hot pepper sauce or cayenne you can tone it down with sour cream. You could also do that with black pepper, but it doesn't work very well.
Any kind of sweetener will not cut the heat

Hope this helps maybe someone else hasa better idea.
