Could someone please suggest why, even using a brand new oven, my cakes made from a cake mix never rise, despite carefully following the directions? Any advice, please?
Many thanks!

well fist i always suggest to have an oven thermometer in just, in case. But if you live in a high altitude that can have a lot to do with your baking. . . . as i said that i looked up and noticed we are from the same area so i dont think its location. good luck !
Cake mixes are generally pretty foolproof. It sounds like an oven problem - the only way a cake would fail to rise for other reasons might be if the mix was quite shelf weary. Be sure to preheat the oven and use an oven thermometer. It might also be that the cake is rising, but then falling, which could be due to overmixing.
If you're having poor results with cake mixes, you can always separate the eggs and beat the whites until soft peaks form, then fold them into the batter. That way you won't be relying on only the chemical leavener that causes cakes to become light when using cake mixes - the eggs will help lighten the cake.
