LOLOL not at you but I CAN RELATE!! as a private chef and caterer what I do is I wear glasses or another trick is to peel them under running water. also you can refrigerate onions before peeling, or you can cut them in half place them in water about 5 min befor chopping or cutting

I have also found that an open flame (a few candles would work) helps burn the gasses from the onions before they get to you.

I heartily agree to the "get them cold" technique previously mentioned.

    OK, here's a couple for you - don't laugh.

    1. some say holding a piece of sliced bread in your mouth stops the fumes from going to your eyes.

This next one is the one I use -

Wear swim goggles or diving mask - now I did say not to laugh - but it works!

I've heard you put a piece of bread in your mouth, but I've never tried it.

How do I peel Onions WITHOUT CRYING???

Well....I wear contacts and WOW..they do the trick! I can peel onions all day long and not shed a tear! AMAZING! But...for those of you that don't wear contacts, I have heard that if you hold a silver spoon in your mouth it is suppose to prevent you from "crying". I have not tried this but, I have heard that it works :)

How do I peel Onions WITHOUT CRYING???

I knew someone that used to keep a few slices of lemon by them and squeeze the lemon to prevent them from crying. I never tryed it so I don't know if it really works.
