    Granola Bars

I cant get my granola bars to stick together and all the "goop" ends up on the bottom. The granola bar recipe that I'm using calls for butter and honey as the only means of holding the ingredients together. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi kph. It's one I got off the Cooks.com website, but there are so many to choose from I'm not sure I could find it again. However, I printed the recipe so let me just type the ingre. here:
    4 cups oats
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 cup raisins
    1/2 cup coconut
    1 cup nuts
    3/4 cup melted butter
    1/2 cup honey

Mix together and bake in greased pan at 450 deg. for 8-10 min.

I use a variety of nuts and usually substitute dried bananas for raisins. The flavor is wonderful and I always end up with yummy granola but this is specifically a "granola bar" recipe and it would be nice to actually get bars for a change. :-) I've tried adding peanut butter but that didnt work. My mom suggested marshmallows but I'm afraid it would make them too sweet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

I saw the recipe posted in here. are you using whole dried bananas? I would try chopping them into smaller pieces so that it can all blend in. sounds like the honey and butter when combined with all the ingredients may not be enough.try it that way and also increase the honey by tablespoons. if you want I can give the recipe a test run and get back to you.

Thanks for the tips. Next time I make granola I'll give it a try. If you make them before me, let me know how they turn out.
