Can you FREEZE split pea soup??

Hey there, I just made a huge pot of Canadian split pea soup and I know I can't eat it all. I wonder if it can be frozen? It's your basic split pea with ham, carrots, onions, and celery.
Please let me know- I'd appreciate it!

Can you FREEZE split pea soup??

I freeze mine all the time in winter just put has much as you want in a container then freeze. You may find that once the ice has thrawed while cooking of defrosting you may have a bit more liquid but that doesn't matter as I usely put a bit more liquid in any how. I freeze all my soups make a big batch and I always have it on hand. Have a Happy New Year.

Potatoes tend to get a bit grainy when frozen, but it's not the end of the world.....maybe you could puree it all after defrosting?

I freeze all types of soups. Sometimes in jars, sometimes in freezer baggies. Never had a problem w/flavors (have frozen broccoli in my my freezer from a few weeks ago) I try to use the soups within a few months after freezing them Hope this helps.

You can freeze pretty much everything, although the texture may change a bit. Look @ all the frozen dinners out there, they freeze anything. I make soups year round in a big batch & stock the freezer w/ them. If there's potatoes in a soup that you want to freeze, I think the smaller the chunks, the better. More like diced sized. Your pea soup will be fine, Enjoy!
And if you don't like how the taters unfroze, try making your next batch w/ barley or quinoa instead. mmm.....
