Can I sub. bisquick for flour to thicken?

Can anyone tell me if I can use bisquick instead of
flour to thicken sauces? If so, will it change the
    taste/consistancy much?

yes you can and no it wont change the taste. I use it all the time for making gravy. I also use wondra flour found in flour and sugar section of the grocery store.

Yes, I use it all the time. I think it makes the gravy have a richer taste than flour.

Wondra works great! When I don't have it on hand, cake flour also works well as a gravy thickener.

For Chinese dishes, I used cornstarch, potato starch, or arrowroot mixed with a small amount of soy sauce and water.

Since I haven't tried it myself I can't say for sure if bisquick would alter the taste but because of the the oil in it (which is the basis of shortening) I sincerly doubt that it would work well. Not to mention the levening that is in it. I would stick with the wondra, corn starch, flour or arrowroot all mixed with water will work out much better when trying to thicken.
