What can i add to a recipe to make it less spicy?
are you saying you made something and it's too hot? If that's the case, cut up some potatoe..(raw)..large pieces so you can take it back out...put it in the food....it will absorb some of the heat....the more potaoe...the more absorbed....good luck, and let me know how it turned out!!
you can also use sour cream served on the side that takes the spice off of your toungue ..lol ranch dressing does the same job
just add less spicy stuff!!
what recipes are you finding too spicy?
If it is a SouthWest/Mexican style dish try usind sour cream. If it is an Indian (Asia) use some plain yogurt. If you haven't prepared the dish yet, leave the peppers and chiles out or start slow, 1/4 amt. called for.
Good Luck

If you are using peppers, remove all the seeds and white part inside. Try adding just a pinch of sugar to counter the spice. This has worked a few times for me, but I don't know how well it works on all dishes.
In a restaurant, you can order milk and take sips in between bites of the spicy food.
If it's only a little too spicy, and has already been made, then some sugar can help. Obviously, though, this has its limitations: you don't want to wind up with something both too spicy AND too sweet. If it's a more liquid dish (e.g. a soup or stew), you can dilute it with water, stock, cream, etc., as well.
Otherwise, serve the dish with plain rice and/or a side of bread, since they are good at taking off some of the "edge."
