    ground savory

    I have a recipe that calls for ground savory. What can I substitute for this?

    Thyme, marjoram, or sage. You can Google it for more ideas specific to your recipe..

    I'd go with sage, it's a great combination. Remember to test fry a small piece first to check the flavor...is this a sausage that has to cure for a while under refrigeration, for the flavors to meld? I've never made my own sausage before but have always been interested in the process.

    Keep in mind that sage is powerful, and cannot just be exchanged amount for amount. I would start off with 1/2 the amount and see how it goes. As much as I love it, it can easily overwhelm everything.....I hope this helps, please let me know how it goes, and please keep on researching it via internet so that you get a feel for what you are dealing with, compare many recipes until one seems right for you....
