I haven't been able to find an old favourite. Back in the 1990's, about, Chi chi had a salad that was a favourite. It was served in a baked tortilla in a fluted open shape (brioche pan). Shredded ice burg lettuce on the bottom then layers of guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese. I'm thinking there was something else but not sure. Maybe diced tomato, cuke and or onion? House dressing? I can't remember and can't find it on the internet. Any ideas anyone?

I'm 99% sure it would have included diced tomato, and most likely would've had taco meat also. Perhaps guacamole too, but I'm a bit less certain on that...
It was for lunch so I don't think it had gr beef or any meat. No beans since I hate them. Doubt if it had beef,but for sure no shrimp, pork etc.
I did some looking into this. I remember the place. but we never had one close to go to. They went out of business in the states from a Hepatitis outbreak, but they say they are still in business in Canada, as well as a few other countries. I also searched other websites and people are requesting some of their recipes also. I even joined one to do some snooping, we have taco bells here and they have a layered salad in a taco shell bowl, but it's a basic layered salad with all the standard ingredients. well I joined a site and posted a request for it,lol, lets see what happens.......
Found the dressing
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayo
1/4tsp ground cumin
3/4tsp chili powder
2tsp dried minced onion
1and 1/2 tsp grated lime zest
1tsp lime juice.....in a squeeze bottle mix and shake well. Let stand in fridge for 1hr for onion to rehydrate.

That dressing sounds great. Not sure if I can have it anymore, but I may make it anyhow. My Dad loved the Taco Bell Salad Bowl when he was alive. I visited him every week-end and almost every other one he would ask to go and get one of those salads. I loved them then and now I have one 5 minutes from me and I just do not go there. Maybe one day, then I can have it for my whole day of food.
I got this from, states that the person who scaled this down because chi chi's would make gallons in huge buckets. Still working on the taco salad.lol
Nachos Grande there today..............my bad........this dressing sounds good, I never ate at one of these, so I am curious how much of a difference the taco salad recipe is between the two, Somehow I dont think taco bell is zesting limes while Im at the drive thru,lol
