    Too many spices

I so need to get organized when it comes to my spice cabinets. Everytime I I have to move things around and it never fails, a few of them always fall out. I especially hate those little McCormick jars! Anyone have a shelfing system/door system/brand names to suggest. ty

    Spice rack

I use the 1 cup preserving jars or the smallest ones I could find. I use the bigger ones for the spices I use more, garlic, curry etc. Set them alphabetic on an easy to reach shelf. They stack great. Labels on the bottom.

I had a custom shelf built into my dining room. Small galley kitchen is behind. This is the back of my kitchen cabinets and rests on a ledge. The bottom contains my cookbook collection since it's the heaviest, then larger jars then you can see my spice jars. top shelf is used for the occasion item like the fondue set.

I use shelves as well, One came as a full spice rack as a wedding present & eventually added a secong unit I picked up in an antique (junk!) store. They don't even match, but look cute. (I like the "eclectic" look) The one shelf is rather shallow so I keep the larger size or bulk sizes in the cabinet & fill the smaller jars as needed. They're hanging on the wall right next to my tiny NYC counter space so always in reach. In fact you made me realize I'm not using the 2nd one wisely, It also needs some reorganization.
Nice shelf KarenB!! Great idea to have the cookbooks right there! Now I'm jealous.....

I group my spices, one lazy susan has most commonly used spices (for savory dishes). Another susan for baking spices. Then I have teared shelves for mixed spices like Johny's and old Bay. And another one for all those little sprinklly things that go on cookies and cakes. And another teared shelf with the odds and ends I bought but should probably throw out because there so old. Its an organised mess but I can usually find what I'm looking for because its mine.

Kookie. no one. inherited from my grandmother via my late parents. Just couldn't sell it. I have 2 boxes of her sheet music from the 20's and 30's. My dad played. I dream of learning. My grandmother was a good cook in her day. I have her recipe book and her mother's as well. This house is over 150 yrs old and I had a structural engineer help me reinforce the floor. The piano weights over 800 pounds.Yikes!

my house is forsale and it was built circa 1860, I understand structure issues. If you sit on my couch and look at the front walll. you can actually see how the house slants to the right. Never had a chance to totally gut it......now I just need to get it sold. Oh by the way that green cookbook on the shelf looks like a few I got when my Mom passed. Anything good in there? LOL

That's my collection volume one of three. My mother was a lousy cook. Comes from no interest and the oldest of eight. Survival cooking is what I called it. I do have my mom's, grandmothers and great grandmothers books. We all know how accurate they are! I get a kick out of grandma's book. The temperance lady with "questionable" recipes. Ah......... those family ghosts in the closet or should I say pantry.

    Spice tower 007.jpg

This is my spice tower. I posted it on the site when we were discussing berries to be crushed instead of on this one. But this is what I do with my spices and herbs.
