    skin care?

My daughter insists every so often to play spa! She has quite the imagination and came up with a facial mask mixture of honey, mayo, lemon, and, well, it was a disaster of course....lol. Has anyone ever made any hair or skin products from ingredients in their pantry?

I found this in my old files:

    BEAUTY CREAM
    2 c. vegetable shortening
    2 Tbsp. mineral oil
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    2 Tbsp. pure lanolin
    2 Tbsp. castor oil
    2 Tbsp. glycerin
    few drops of perfume

Using an electric mixer at low speed, mix all of the
ingredients together, then whip on higher speed for about 5
minutes until the mixture is very fluffy. Keep refrigerated
(except the small amount in covered jar being used).

An interesting fact: the ancient Egyptians were using honey as a wound dressing thousands of years ago, and many traditions have recommended it for this purpose during the intervening centuries. It has natural antiseptic properties; that's why it's the only foodstuff that will not spoil.

Many clinical studies have confirmed its effectiveness since the advent of scientific medicine, including one which found honey to be as effective on minor cuts and burns as a triple antibiotic ointment. In recent years cases have been reported from all over the world in which very serious sores and infections, up to and including gangrene, which had proved unresponsive to the strongest modern antibiotics, were healed after subsequent treatment with honey.

Cure for small lines and wrinkles or "just because" winter moisturizer.
MASK -yogurt, bit of honey and mashed banana. Best facial I've had in years, do the back of your hands as well.
Exfoliate - gentle fingers with baking soda, again back of hands. Use olive oil/mineral oil for a gentle massage after.Did you know that mineral oil is the base for Avon's skin so soft and baby oil? Manufacturers add the scent and charge you that incredible price tag?
Hair booster - if you use mouse, spray etc. 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 cup of warm water pour through hair before shampoo. Removes the residue.
Oil treatment for hair. Wet hair and use sunflower oil and cap with a plastic shower cap. Wrap in a warm towel. Half hour. Wash out with shampoo 2x.

Nothing like a home spa day!

Thanks for these, Karen. I love them. Natural ingredients are SO much better. Also, buttermilk to fade freckling.
