    HELP ME! I don't cook! :(

Alright fellow cook's. I need desperate help! I don't cook. My sister got that gene from our mom. But I'm so sick of fast food, mac and cheese, and microwave dishes. I need help. I am a very picky eater, but I love food! I would love to know if I could get a few simple recipes for me, my boyfriend, and 4 year old son. We don't like onions, not a pepper person, and don't have a crock pot, or anything. I have a few pots and pans, stove, toaster oven, and that's about it. . My kid loves mac n cheese, but I am so sick of it, and it's not healthy to only eat that. (I'm pretty sure he gets it also at his dads house.) I do make some awesome enchiladas, but I can't make much else. Just the basics, and mostly from out of the box like Hamburger or Tuna Helpers. We prefer chicken and tuna, but sometimes beef just sounds awesome! I work full time, and don't get out of work until 6 pm every night, and am sometimes not home from picking up my son until almost 7 pm. So something that takes around an hour(ish) lolz. Pretty please help me! I feel like I'm depriving my poor kid of real food! Lolz. Thank you everyone who reads and gives me some ideas!

Your lifestyle is just screaming out for a slow cooker. Lots of sales now for Christmas. There is nothing like coming home at the end of the day and the house smells like dinner in 10 minutes.
Ever watch Jamie Oliver meals in 30 minutes. Lots of hints there.

    or 5 ingredient fix http://www.foodnetwork.ca/ontv/shows...titleid=239083

Roast a whole chicken on the weekend and use it during the week for soups, stews, with gravy, sandwiches etc. One of the easiest recipes is to take a couple of cups of chopped chicken. some cooked corkscrew pasta, and a can of cream of mushroom soup. mix in a casserole and bake at 350 covered for 30 minutes. remove lid and add shredded cheese or bread crumbs for final 15 minutes. serve with salad and bread and your ready to eat.
Note you can sub. canned tuna/cooked gr beef and change the pasta for a variation. add any veggies you want.

Get the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook or Joy of Cooking. Two of the best for novices. Or better yet one of the books using 3,4, or 5 ingredients. You can find them online or at many book stores. Good luck! Cooking is extremely rewarding. You are embarking on a new world and a FUN one!

Try buying some chicken cutlets at the market (they're already thin sliced for you) sprinkle with a little garlic salt and a little pepper. Then put about a cup of flour on one plate, about 1 cup of Panko bread crumbs on another plate, and beat 2 eggs in a shallow bowl. After you season the cutlets with garlic salt and pepper just toss each one in the flour, shake off the excess, pass it through the bowl with the eggs in it, shake a little there too and lastly pass it through the Panko bread crumbs. Don't forget to shake off the excess there too. Heat up some light olive oil in a non-stick large pan and fry each cutlet for about 10 minutes total. (About 5 or 6 minutes per side.) Try not turning them over and over again. The trick here is to get the oil hot, but not too hot, because then they will burn on the outside and not cook through. I usually start the pan off on high but right before I put the cutlets in I lower to medium. You might need to wipe the pan out after each batch and add a little more olive oil. I wipe the pan with a slightly wet, white paper towel. Obviously don't do this while the pan is still on the burner. Also don't crowd too many in the pan. You can do 2 or 3 at a time. If you put some paper towel down on a cutting board you can rest them there while you're completing the others. Just cover loosely with a sheet of aluminum foil to keep warm. Serve with some frozen veggies that you can steam right in the bag in the microwave.

Hi & Welcome! Wow I feel I have alot to say...I agree w/ everyone, Let's get you a basic beginner's cookbook. I agree w/ Brigid on that. And with a crockpot (slow cooker) you can make healthy soups/stews/sauce, you name it. And mac & cheese can become a healthy dish by using Whole Wheat pasta, 1% milk & 2% cheese & any frozen or canned veggies finely chopped. Top w/ some breadcrumbs and 2 tbsps light butter or a butter/oil mix.
The issue here is you have to stop eating fast food & processed food on a regular basis. Look up this site www.eatingwell.com

Very good advice. Cooking is fraught with peril besides being fun.
