    What's for dinner this year?

Well, it's that time of year again, how are your holiday menus coming along?

Baked ham, creamed potatoes, dressing, broccoli with cheese sauce, sweet potato souffle with brown sugar-pecan topping, and chocolate cake. Also sugared pecans with orange flavor. The recipe for the pecans is posted on this site. Having a pre-Christmas family "party" too, and also making strawberry-banana-pineapple frozen punch, peanutbutter-chocolate chip cookies, and haven't decided about the cake yet. Someone else can bring the savory stuff. Oh yeah, I'm also making rolls for Christmas dinner. Should be good!

Then again if we all end up at the same table the rest of the company would go crazy since we would just be talkin' food like the bunch of crazed foodies we are

We would bore the living hell out of people who don't have the same obsession--too bad my gear-head roomie doesn't realize this...

The daughter usually comes over by me on Christmas Day, her mom's side on Christmas Eve. I have pretty much given up on cooking for us both on holidays. She has usually eaten within 2 hours of the time I tell her food will be ready. Told her whats the point. LOL.

I do have a 1.3lb Door County Cherry pork tenderloin in the freezer and a 1.5 pork loin roast, just in case. I dont think she would like the raspberry chipolite one tho. Serve with baked taters, corn or green beans, some good chunky bread and cole slaw. She can bring dessert. LOL. I might even serve some in the box cornbread dressing.

For either day I have a nice porter house steak or if she wants to split it. I try to keep it simple.

I haven't tried either one of the flavored pork loins before. They should be an adventure.

So make a tradition out of favourite appetizers or special desserts. You could even make a some special recipes that you can split. I like to make several recipes and divide it among the neighbours that take care of me during the year. This way I get a little treat to share and don't end up with a pile of things I will get sick of. So find some recipe favourites and split the recipe for the freezer. It will give her some nice memories in the months to come.
