I have been trying to find a recipe that resembles my Great Grandma's
I know that the recipe is something like
orange jello
crushed pineapple
shredded carrots
but I do not know the topping . It was white and sweet (but not too sweet)
it was also sprinkled with chopped pecans on top
Please if anyone can fill in the blank for the topping I would be greatful

Many of the 1960s jello salads were topped with mayonnaise or its sweet/tangy cousin Miracle Whip. Could one of those have been it? The only other simple vintage topping (other than whipped cream of course, or Dream Whip) that comes immediately to mind is sour cream sweetened with brown sugar. Again, sweet & tangy. Condensed milk would be too syrupy- perhaps something made with evaporated milk?
