    Chicken Cordon Bake

This is very good. Since it's just the two of us I only made 1/2. I didn't use onions.

    CHICKEN CORDON BAKE

    Ingredients:
4 cups chicken, cooked and cut in chunks
2 cups ham, cooked and cut in chunks
1 cup shredded I swiss cheese
    1 cup onion, chopped
    1/4 cup butter
    1/3 cup flour
    2 1/4 cups milk
    1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
    1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon pepper

    Directions:
Layer chicken, cheese and ham in a greased 9" by 13 " pan.
Saute onions (if using) in butter.
Stir in flour and blend in milk, add dry mustard and seasonings.
    Cook and stir until thickened.
Pour over ham and sprinkle with topping.

    Crunchy topping:
2 1/2 cups coarse bread crumbs
    1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
    1/4 cup melted butter
Mix together until combined before sprinkling over the ham.
Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

This sounds great for company. Buttered noodles on the side with a medley of veggies. Comfort food!

I came across this recipe on here myself. Haven't made it yet.
Now that I know it's good, I think I will!! Thanks.

Hi maggie this is really tasty. I served with steamed broccoli & cauliflower. I think KarenB's suggestion of buttered noodles along with the veggies sounds like a super idea. I hope you like it as much as we do.
