    pressure canners

I am interested in purchasing a pressure canner, but do not know which one to buy. I have done some research and the more popular ones are presto and all american, but there is such a huge price difference! Which one is better than the other and why? Please help!

Hi, Lady! Presure-cookers; what a time-saver! One of the most-used tools in my kitchen. Some days I actually use both of them to prep one meal!

Regarding what to buy; going on-line will present you with many choices. Some decisions about how you plan to use them will direct your final choice. Do you plan to do large roasts or pressure can? Then you will need a really big one. Are you feeding a lot of people? Then you need a mid-size. You can do a whole chicken, for instance, in a mid-size, also soups etc. Are you a small household (two)? Then you might enjoy working with a 4 liter, or smaller unit.

I had an aluminum cooker the first time; it warped after some time and would not seal properly. I would go with steel; will last many years. I got one at a big dept. store, and the other on-line at my favorite discount site. BTW, there is always an instruction booklet that comes with the unit. Right now I have two Fagor cookers.

Hope the foregoing is of some help.

Ladyblakeney, go to the link below to see mine. I think that you might like it. It's not too big and it can accommodate up to 7 qt-size Mason jars at once! I like it!!
