I am a mother of a 1yr old baby boy and a 2 week old baby girl...my husband is in the Army and we have been going thru some tough times, especially when he was deployed and I had to move back to Baltimore while pregnant. The cost of living in Balto (if in a decent area) is a small fourtune!! Anyway, I had to go to a neighborhood food pantry twice and I was very embarrassed...but it helped my family tremendously and I am trying to give back to others in need any way I can....Believe me, times are tough...Not everyone who needs assistance from time to time is lazy, greedy or whatever...it happens to the best of us....:*)
...............I also would like to thank you and your husband for his service to our country and you should never be embarrassed to ask for help our country should be embarrassed that over 75% of our enlisted men and women are eligble for food stamps and other assistance we should be paying these brave men & woman a fair living wage!!!!! That figure comes from the Salvation Army that serves the men & woman at the Fort Drum Base in upstate N.Y. To people who want to help the needy call your food bank and ask where the closest food pantry is to you do not tell them you want to help then contact the local pantry most are run out of churches these are the people who serve the people on a day to day baisis the food bank helps to supply these local food pantries . Our church has had a food pantry and a clothing room where we supply clothes we collect to the needy for free all run by volenteers for over 30 years . this is where you will be able to help..

I have helped with our local Christmas hamper drive for several years. The number of people receiving a hamper has stayed constant. Some families are in need because they are large or have gone through a hard time but there are also career users of the social welfare system. Our community is extremely generous for it's size and people would rather help those in need than see them go without. I learned a long time ago that we should all give when we can because at sometime we will all have a need we can't meet by ourselves. Pay it forward.
