Should they be pinched out like Coleus or Swedish Ivy to make them bushier?
This is what I have heard will do the trick for them. Give it a try.I know I have had mint and it was very hearty. It came back every year with a vengeance. I love that little plant!
I went ahead and pinched out the leaves, I think it will be fine. It sure won't kill it in any case! At least I knew enough about it not to plant it in the yard, lest it take over the entire neighborhood!!!
Well, you have to admit, the smell of it wafting thru the neighborhood would not be a bad thing!![]()
Sure beats what the back yard usually smells like!
Mint will take over a yard. I have mine planted down the driveway. I rake it out or use a hedge trimmer every spring. It will grow everywhere. Just like rhubarb or horseradish...plant it where you want it forever.
Rhubarb and horseradish SPREAD??? I had no idea.....
They don't spread fast but they will develop deep roots and will be hard to remove. When you dig up horseradish your breaking off the roots and this will regenerate the plant. Same with Rhubarb. It took me 3 years, a tarp and sod to kill one of my patches.
You have to be careful with rhubarb, though, don't you? Parts of it are poisonous.
