I agree.... sort of. I partially agree. Many detox programs are nothing more than marketing the latest craze. It's like our bombardment of the latest weight loss diet. I think Bloefeld meant a more in depth comment of the benefits of a natural detox. ( correct me and expect you will )If you listen to Dr. Oz he would agree. Waste of money. But remember your body will detox in many natural ways: exercise, sweat, balanced diet etc. A diet detox can happen on many levels. From fasting to removing foods to a balanced diet, that you think are not good for you. It's a personal choice and balance for each of us. I have started to use a wash to remove the chemicals on foods. Hopefully this will add to my other natural health activities to prevent any further problems.

    Hi Folks,

If one eats some species of e coli, the toxins it creates cannot be treated by some sort of purgative detoxification, either your normal flora, fauna, and chemistry cures you or you need a treatment that kills the e coli that causes the toxin, or you die. You can eat herbs and minerals until your eyes bug out and you will not be cured.

So perhaps someone could point out the so called toxins that are displaced by any detox program and exactly how it is that the rest of us who believe that detox programs are idiocy seem to be perfectly healthy. My complaint about these programs is not that people believe in them, or use them. I simply lead a rational life, when confronted with claims like those of Dr. Oz and others (and I like Dr. Oz by the way) I merely want to see if there is any evidence at all to support the claim of benefits.

So far, I have one response to my original post that makes an effort to do anything but call me silly names. If this forum cannot do better than this, perhaps it is just a forum for sheep.

    Cheers,

    Bloefeld

Ah, yes; magic commercial words: detox. What the heck!? If your stomache does not feel well; change your eating habits!

I 'came down with' Shingles in 2006, and in the eight months it took me to resolve same, something changed in my body. I am still trying to get back to that 'before' state of affairs. I do not take medications; only vitamins, minerals and herbs. Not enough to reverse the changes. It has occurred to me that my 'flora and fauna' are out of whack. So I have myself on a pro-biotic regimen. It seems to be improving my internal state of affairs. 'Course, when not on South Beach, I cook up all sorts of naughty, reprehensible goodies... Anyhow, no starches, or sugar, and things are improving; including what that dam* bathroom scale has to say!

Moderation in all things is a good place to start, Ladies and Gentlemen.

Perhaps you were inquiring about this?

In general, I tend to agree with those who feel that the body is designed to process toxins on its own; but, in my credo, I also believe that there are more things on heaven and earth than are dreamt of in my philosophy (as what's-his-name once said :-). Therefore, I tend to embrace the pragmatism of William James: "Truth is preeminently to be tested by the practical consequences of belief." What is true for everyone else may not be true for me; and vice versa. If you feel like trying something that seems to benefit others, do it while reserving all doubts and see what comes of it. ... Then, again, what do I know?

    In any event, GOOD LUCK!
    Rob

Do your research. If you have any health issues what so ever consult your doctor. I have a lactose problem. I cut back on my dairy, started to feel better, then found out I have a calcium deficiency. Now I am on supplements. Do. yor research and come up with what works for you. I will add that I would never buy smething advertised without researhing it, for example those pads that stick under your feet while you sleep to remove toxins. Knowledge is key. Good luck

Kookie this website is for you. You probably already know how to get calcium other than dairy but I just thought it was a good refresher for me as well. With so many vitamins and minerals etc to make sure we get, it can really be overwhelming keeping track. I have lactose problem too but I just switched to soy milk and the problem went away. Still love my yogurt, and cheese. And for the soy I use "so good original" or "soy sensational vanilla"
Back to the thread I have been using detox tea as well as my green tea and nettle tea plus a teaspoon of honey.
