    Hamburger

Just fry it up loose. Use some to make sloppy joes later. Mix with a cream soup for use on taters or bread, or live it up with a canned or jarred beef gravy. Mix some with a small can of baked beans. saute up some onions peppers, etc and throw some in.
Just some of my cheap lazy single man chef suggestions.

You can make an easy casserole with the hamburger by mixing it (cooked) with a can of red beans, stir in some chili powder or taco seasoning mix, pour it into a casserole dish, then get a box of Jiffy Cornbread mix, mix it according to directions (and it is very easy), now spoon over the top and bake at 400 til the cornbread is golden brown. This is cheap, easy and feeds more than one.

Sounds good. Maybe chop up some jalepinos, since I've never met a chili powder or taco seasoning I've liked. i wonder how that would work with blackeyed peas?

I think it would work very nicely. It is something you can throw together quickly and w/o much fuss. I think the addition of jalapenos sounds really good. I like peppers.

This kind of casserole is also very good with chunks of cream cheese mixed throughout...

    Or chipotles. Smoky is good...

Norsen, you know there are two different things that are both called chili powder, right? One is a mix of spices for making chili, the other is just powdered dried chili peppers. That's the one to get. Or try cumin- instant Mexican flavor when added to beef.

You also might do it with Cajun seasoning instead, since you're thinking blackeyed peas and cornbread.
