1 c. milk
2 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 stick butter
1 qt. pecan halves
Juice of 1 med. orange
1/2 tsp. orange extract
Boil sugar and milk until it forms a soft ball on med. heat. Add juice and boil again to same consistency. Add butter, extract, and stir thoroughly. Place pecans in a large bowl. Pour hot syrup over pecans and stir with a wooden spoon until creamy. Drop on wax paper and separate each pecan. Store in air tight container. Flavor will improve in a day or two.
This is an even better recipe than it sounds. It is beautiful for a holiday table!
