Thread: Oven proof glass bowls?

  1. #1

    Question Oven proof glass bowls?

For Onion Soup I use (but need more) glass bowls -- about 8-12oz. I used to be able to get them in two sizes (from Wms-Sonoma), but they're not available any more. I put them in a shallow pan of water, but grill them from above in the last stage to melt and brown the cheese.

Does anybody know where such (or similar) oven-proof bowls can be found? None of mine have ever broken or caused trouble, but I now have a 2nd home and don't want to deplete the 1st home's supply.

My first thought is Pyrex, but I honestly don't know if they can withstand the broiler heat, quite possibly not. Somebody around here has the answer for you. Maybe Pfaltzgraff or something similar, stoneware sounds like the solution.....

Hi GenieR and welcome to TalkFood!

Try this link and type "onion soup bowls" in the search box in the Cookware-Bakeware category. There are a number to choose from. Hope you find the right ones!
