    Simpler soup method

When making soup that contains carrots, I simply put them in whole and cut them up when finished cooking. Much faster and easier then chasing a carrot around the cutting board (or inevitably around the kitchen)

I take a slice off one side of carrot so it lays flat. No chasing for me.

That's an excellent method, and one I use myself when not feeling lazy or in a huge hurry. I've always recommended it to beginners, it saves on pain and bloodshed!

I can certainly understand why this would work and it sure sounds easier than chasing carrots. However, our dogs LOVE carrots and if I send a piece of a carrot flying off the cutting board it's a race to see who gets to it first. I usually let them win, though.

My vet says carrots are good for dogs--good thing, since my sister had four who just loved to wait around the cutting board at dinner time, hoping, hoping, hoping.....
