    Palm Hearts

I love palm and use them to add to many salads but I was wondering if there are any recipes out there that call for cooked palm hearts or anything other than salads even. Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with cooking with palm - where do you get it, and is it from the palm tree or something different? Sorry for an ignorant question :-), I'd like to learn.

I should have been more specific. Sorry. Palm hearts are available in the US in mostly cans but can sometimes be found fresh in Latin neighborhoods. They are a fibrous stalk from the center of some palm trees with a mild flavor that can be added to salads. They have an interesting texture and absorb the flavors of other ingredients such as dressings. They are a good source of protein but do contain a high level of sodium especially when canned. There are other vitamins and such but I'm not familiar with nutritional info.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to look for it next time I'm in town.
