    Frustration at Cooking Shows

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this thread but here goes! Does anyone else who lives in a rural area find it so frustrating watch cooking shows when they give you recipes with lots of ingredients that are only available in major cities? If I hear one more time " you can get this at all supermakets nowadays " I will scream. I know I start at a disadvantage living in France and watch UK/USA shows but it would help so much if a more commonly available alternative was also mentioned. No doubt I will be told to use my imagination, which I do, it's just sometimes, if it is a new ingredient to you it's impossible to sustitute. OK, rant finished, thanks for taking the time to listen!!!

    Hey anne!
I actually live 10 mins away from Mariah-RoseCass and know what you mean!
We both have the same problems, I saw this cooking show that made Wild Tomato Relish-My Dad loves it and I tried to make it-you had to leave it in salt for 24 hrs I noticed that I needed a bunch of spices and I could'nt find any in the 12 grocery stores around our area!

It used to be that it was difficult to obtain exotic ingredients, and out of the ordinary kitchen equipment and supplies if you didn't live in a large city, but now it's so easy to find and order almost anything you need on amazon or other online kitchen stores, etc. And supermarkets are evolving, too, and carry a much wider range of international and gourmet foods.

Sort of (well it was more rural at one time) but not really anymore. I used to live in Boston but now I live on Cape Cod. Cape Cod seemed rural by comparison when I moved here years ago.

Hello Annie, I wish I lived in France, all the fresh ingredients. You can subitute thing in recipes to make them work or go on the internet if you need something special. I know most places will ship stuff to you. I love the wines from France.
