Is this only my rubarb, or is all rubarb itcy when you are in it.Because I remember when I was little my brothers would run around in it, then come out all itcy. Why is this?

if so, do you have to be careful or something, when toucing it. Or is it jsut the leaves?
If I remember right you just can not eat the leaves. I never had a problem when I touched it, but then again I never played in it.
Never eat the leaves they are very poisonous and can cause kidney failure. Permanent damage. As for the itch the plant contains Oxalic acid which is used as a bleaching agent. It's very corrosive.This will cause the itch and skin rash.
However Rhubarb stalks are very healthy for you.Contains vitamin A,B and C plus many other detox properties. Grandma used it for a spring tonic. A plant with a split personality!
yeah, my brothers did pretty crazy things back then!
