These little turnovers are easy as pie to put together and are good for appetizers or snacks for guests or the next game.
1 pkg. (3 oz.) cream cheese
1/4 lb. margarine
2 tablespoons cream or sour cream
1 cup flour
Blend all but flour, then cut in flour as in making pie crust using a pastry blender or two knives. Roll out thin between sheets of wax paper, cut with small round or square biscuit or cookie cutter.
Now the fun starts. The filling can be almost anything: sauteed mushrooms, bits of leftover meat, cold cuts with a ricotta cheese filling like tiny calzones, spicy ground meat, pizza sauce with pepperoni and chopped melting cheese like mozzarella.
Depending on your filling add a touch of mustard, chili sauce, garlic spread or any kind of sandwich spread on the pastry then fill with a spoonful of filling. Fold the pastry over and seal well then prick with a fork. May be frozen at this point. Brush tops with beaten egg and bake in preheated 400F oven for 10 minutes. Can also be deep fried.
