    Fishy odor in cast iron skillet

    How do I get rid of the fishy smell from frying fish in my cast iron skillet??

    Try rinsing it briefly with boiling hot water after you rub baking soda in with a paper towel. Or sprinkle it with coarse salt and rub it with a lemon. Or after running hot water over it, prepare a tomato based sauce. You can also wipe it down with vinegar, then oil. Don't soak it or you'll lose the seasoning, but brief rinses with hot water is ok if your pan is well-seasoned in the first place!

    Then rub it with oil and heat it until dry (about 3 minutes).
