Pasta Machines and Light Speed Ovens!

This is the place to share your experiences with the various cooking gadgetry that's currently available.

Some of these items can be great time savers or help speed up or facilitate food processing chores while helping us to create more professional results.

We'd love to hear from anyone who has found new uses for old tools as well, such as making bagels, cookies, biscuits, or pie crusts with a pasta machine. (We've done this!)

Some gadgets just don't measure up - we'd like to hear about those, too, so we can save our money for the ones which don't waste space in the kitchen until we finally throw them out.

Which kitchen gadgets have you bought, only to find that you never used them and then threw them away years later after they'd grown into a collection of useless trinkets?

Are there any gadgets that you own that you think you might be able to make better use of, but you've lost the instructions or recipe book which came with it, or you just had poor results with the first try and you need some tips? Maybe a cooks.com forum member can help!

Nothing to do with pasta machines or light speed ovens, but you asked about gadgets t
hat proved mostly useless, so , here goes! Anything I have ever purchased that claimed to be helpful in peeling, chopping or pressing garlic has proved TOTALLY useless. Seems to me the best way to do the above is bash it with a knife and chop it up! No gadgets to wash.....all you need is a little kosher salt sprinkled on it and you can turn it into a lovely paste in a second. Garlic presses are tools of the devil!

I love gadgets and have way too many of them. My favorite is
    the comfort grip peeler.

    Hi,

Thank you for your interest in pasta makers, 2 of the worlds best home type pasta makers are Marcato and Imperia brands, the main difference between both brands is that the Imperia has metal gears and the Atlas gears are made of durable hard plastic, the life of the imperia would last 30% more then the Atlas (e.g. Imperia 20 years and the Altas 15) also the Atlas has much more optional filled pasta cutter (ravioli, cannelloni, agnolotti, etc.) as for the Imperia only has 2 (cavatelli and ravioli), but for the long type pasta they both equally have about the same pasta type in variety. The motor attachment are differ that the Imperia output power of 80 watts and the Atlas at 100 watt. Polymer clad hobbies like the Atlas as the extra power is needed to roll clad but 80 watts is effiecent.

    Thanks

I use an egg slicer to slice mushrooms.

I also use an egg slicer to slice strawberries.

paper coffee filters work great for streak free glass and windows.

The rubber grip used to open jars is great on the counter to hold a bowl in place while mixing batters.

    and don't forget....

A rolling pin is still a great attitude adjuster. Teeheehee.
