I wouldn't think it is a good idea to cook from frozen. Run cold water over them to start thawing process, (put in a plastic baggie and seal it). Then put on a cast iron skillet to draw the cold out. Will thaw pretty quickly. If you are going to cut into chunks or strips, it is easier to cut while it is partially frozen. This will also hasten the thawing process. If you are going to season, this also helps it to thaw quicker. You might add some blanched broccoli to your casserole. There is a recipe I use to make that had crunchy chinese noodles on top. You could probably find recipe on google

    By the time your chicken is cooked the other ingredients will be mush. If I find myself in this situation I will either thaw in the microwave or steam the breast. Either way keeps the chicken moist. If I have time I will marinade in water and white wine. I know the water idea sound strange but my theory is that chicken has traveled and lost some moisture. Your great grandmothers chicken tasted better because it came from the back yard and not taken the scenic tour to get to your table.
