Well, I have a functioning kitchen! It has been functioning for about a month. It isnt 100% done yet, I still have to put a finish coat of paint on some windows and doors, close in above the cabinets for additional storage and tape the wall behind the pellet stove where the dealer installed our pellet stove wrong. On the outside there is still quite a bit to do also...but I have a functioning kitchen again!!
After giving up my entire summer to do this addition, I told my wife
I passed my framing inspection and yesterday finished the electric which has 18 can lights in the new addition; most are purpose lighting. I have 3 can lights with directional eyeball trim to direct light on each of the three counter work areas, two over the island, four general lighting lights, two in the new mudroom and one at the front and back doors. Our euro style glass and stainless island range hood came in last week and today I will see what is need to mount that securely to the ceiling.
Ten weeks!! It took ten weeks to dig the hole, form and pour the footing and form and pour the foundation for my new kitchen addition; because of the constant rain, it took ten weeks. My final pour took place on June 17th. My little acre of heaven is 100% clay and when it rains on the bare ground it takes at least 2 days of full sun to dry out the surface enough to be able to walk and drive machinery on it...in that ten week period I got very few of these dry spells.
